Alternate Persona Critique #1

I love when people document their work through videos. It makes the experience of viewing their work so much more interactive and fascinating because you get to see the action unfold in real time. That being said, I really enjoyed the Jersey Shore girls, cowgirl, alien, and Frat boy videos from today's presentations. I thought everyone did a great job playing a different role and they were very convincing.

Andrea's 48 hours of being a frat boy were hilarious. Her video gave an insider's perspective to a culture typically so elusive and bizarre to the outside world, and it was funny to see how boys in fraternities spend their time. They totally accepted her as one of their own and made sure she participated in their random and sometimes dangerous rituals. Being able to see inside the frat house and hear the way the boys speak to each other and to Andrea gave me a better sense of what that community is like. I applaud her for putting up with their shenanigans and being such a good sport. I definitely wouldn't have fit in as well as she did.

"Andre's" Video

A piece I thought could have been developed further was Steffi's hand alteration piece. I thought the idea was cool, and it seemed like it allowed her to indulge in one of her favorite activities, but I would have liked to see her experiment with different utensils like silverware or keys or something other than brushes/pencils so that the full 48 hours could have been more diverse. I commend her for taking the final with her fingers taped that way though! That must've been a bit of a struggle.
