Spring Quarter

How is anyone supposed to get anything done when the weather here is so beautiful and the beach is a five minute walk away? Coming back to SB after a week of rain in my home town is so refreshing. It was great to see my family, friends and dogs over break but I love it here so much that it makes homesickness a little easier to deal with. Now I get to wear summer dresses and avoid pants. I get to actually enjoy my bike ride to class instead of facing the annoying elements of winter. I'm such a weather weenie.

The first week of classes is always a little stressful, but I think I make it harder than it needs to be. My friends have all told me how jealous they are of my schedule (out early on Thursday, no class on Friday!) and yet I'm already trying to overload myself with work that doesn't exist. I signed up for two psychology experiments and wanted to bake a cake for my pun project (I was going to put a cake in a pan and call it a pancake--so clever, right?) on a day that was supposed to be easy. I'm really enjoying my Spring Quarter classes so far though. I'm actually taking things that are interesting and relevant. No more art history classes that require memorizing 100 flashcards. No more ridiculously long papers written strictly to receive a grade. Maybe I'm just in the honeymoon phase with this quarter, but I'm really hoping to have some fun and get the most out of my last quarter of freshman year.

Now if only I could go hang out on the beach without getting severely sunburned.
